Welcome

Welcome

"I am not crazy. Everything I did during the assault was the right thing because I am alive. I am not alone."
--RAAP Client, when asked what were the 3 most important things she learned about herself during group counseling at RAAP.

You are not crazy and you are not alone. Most importantly, it is NOT your fault. If you are a victim of sexual violence, you have come to the right place. We are here to help. Welcome.

The mission of the Rape Assistance and Awareness Program (RAAP) is to work towards the elimination of sexual violence. The primary goals are to assist victims and educate the public about sexual violence and its prevention.

As the only rape crisis center serving metro-Denver since 1983, RAAP (pronounced "rap") has served over 450,000 individuals with services that assist victims of sexual assault and programs that educate the public about preventing sexual violence.

  • Farewell from our Executive Director
    Greetings Friends and Colleagues:

After a long and thoughtful deliberation I’m writing to inform each of you that I’ve decided to leave RAAP in mid- to late- January. I have worked in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault for almost 17 years, and I’ve come to the decision that its time for me to move on to new adventures. The last 17 years have provided me with many rewarding and challenging opportunities and most importantly have enabled me to develop many very meaningful professional and personal relationships.

The timing of my departure comes at a time that RAAP is positioned to move into an exciting phase of strategic planning. The Board, Staff, and Volunteers bring a level of strength and commitment that will ensure that RAAP continues to play a critical role in meeting the needs of those impacted by sexual violence.

The organization has developed an excellent transition plan which will include the creation of a transition team to facilitate the hiring process. This team will be made up of Board, Staff, Volunteer, and Community Members.

I’d sincerely like to thank each of you who have been a part of making the last 17 years a memorable, gratifying experience.

    In Peace,
    Jill McFadden
