Counseling Services

Counseling can be an extremely powerful recovery tool. RAAP's Counseling Services program provides individual and group counseling for rape and incest survivors.  The first step is to call and do a brief phone intake following which, if RAAP is a good fit for the client, they are called for an in-person intake for further assessment which is typically an hour and half long.  During this 1.5 hour meeting, the client and therapist decide if individual or group therapy is the next appropriate step.

Research has shown that group counseling is one of the most effective ways to work through issues surrounding sexual assault and sexual abuse. Specialized groups offered by RAAP include:
  • 16-week adult women's rape survivor group
  • 24-week adult women's childhood sexual abuse (incest) survivor group
  • 24-week teen women's sexual abuse survivor group
  • Women’s open support group for Survivors

RAAP also provides a workshop, designed to support friends and family of rape and incest survivors. This 3 hour "Someone I Love" workshop is held alternately on Thursday night or Saturday nights every other month.

For more information or to schedule an appointment for counseling services at any of RAAP's 3 locations, please call the intake therapist at 303-329-9922 x. 302 to set up an intake.
