Our Rape Crisis Hotlines provide crisis intervention, referrals, and information on issues concerning sexual assault and abuse. Other services include Victim Advocacy and a wide array of Counseling options. RAAP counsels rape and incest survivors throughout metro-Denver via 3 offices: downtown, southeast suburbs, north suburbs. Free childcare and transportation to and from counseling sessions are available.
The Journey to Healing At the Rape Assistance and Awareness Program (RAAP) we know how to help. Victims of sexual abuse and violence often feel that confronting their assault is an impossible challenge. We respect these feelings, but recognize that recovery is possible. RAAP has been working in the metro-Denver community since 1983 and we help over 2,500 people each year start the journey to healing. We offer everything from anonymous hotline assistance to in-depth group and individual counseling. Clients decide what help they need and RAAP provides the resources and expertise to get it.
Victim Advocacy The recover process is not easy and often impacts many aspects of the client's life. RAAP's Victim Advocacy program can help find housing, food, clothing, child-care and other resources. We are available 24 hours a day to support a victim beginning at the hospital following an assault, and continuing through the criminal justice process, and each step in-between. These services are available in English and Spanish.
Counseling Services Counseling can be an extremely powerful recovery tool. RAAP's Counseling Services program provides individual and group counseling for rape and incest survivors. The first step is to meet with a counselor one-to-one. During this 1.5 hour meeting, the client and therapist decide if individual or group therapy is the next appropriate step.
Research has shown that group counseling is one of the most effective ways to work through issues surrounding assault. Specialized groups include rape; incest and childhood sexual assault survivors; and teens. We have 3 offices to serve our clients, one downtown, a second in the southeast suburbs, and a third in the north suburbs.
