RAAP's Abuse Prevention Training (APT) program presents age-appropriate sexual assault and sexual harassment prevention education to middle school youth, high school youth, parents, teachers, and other adult caregivers.
The primary goal is to reduce number of sexual assaults against and by young people by empowering youth to make healthy and safe decisions and educating parents, teachers and other adult caregivers on the indicators of child sexual abuse and prevention strategies.
Since its inception in 1983, the APT program has reached over 300,000 youth and adults.
NEW! APT Educator Internship
RAAP's Prevention Education Department is now offering a 12 hour per week internship position as an APT educator. This position consists of learning and teaching developmentally appropriate sexual violence prevention curriculum to youth and adults. Students will receive intensive training in the dynamics, impact, and prevention of child sexual abuse and sexual assault, as well as effective teaching methods for different audiences.

APT CURRICULA
- Together, Keeping Children Safe
- The caregiver presentation is appropriate for parents, teachers, and other adult caregivers that interact with children.
- Participants gain information about the myths and facts of child sexual abuse, warning signs of child sexual abuse, tips for keeping children safe, how to talk with children about safety, and resources available in the community.
- The program is one to two hours in length.
- Harassment Ends by Respecting Others (HERO)
- The middle school program focuses on empowering students to set, enforce and respect others’ boundaries, with the primary goal of preventing sexual harassment.
- Through role play activities and discussions, students learn the difference between sexual harassing and flirting behaviors and gain tools to support a friend that has experienced harassment.
- Students gain knowledge and skills to identify and safely interrupt abusive and harassing behavior.
- The middle school three hour curriculum is presented over two or three class periods.
- Sexual Assault Free Environment (SAFE)
- The high school program focuses on empowering students to make healthy and safe decisions in the context of dating relationships and social situations, with the primary goal of preventing sexual harassment and sexual assault.
- Through small group activities and large group discussions, students gain knowledge and understanding of sexual assault, how to gain full consent, and how gender stereotypes limit men and women.
- Students critically examine popular media images enabling them to draw connections between gender stereotypes and sexual violence in our communities.
- Students gain awareness and skills to identify and safely interrupt abusive and harassing behavior.
- The high school three hour curriculum is presented over two or three class periods.
